EL Paseo Arts Foundation to Present a Live Theatre Event:

MANHATTAN PIANO TRIO

Have you ever heard a music group for the first time and thought to yourself "Wow, that was incredible! The music took me to another world!!!" …In the classical music world, that’s what audiences have been saying about Manhattan Piano Trio (MPT).

But in case you are not up for traveling to the Big Apple anytime soon to hear them, don’t fret as El Paseo Arts Foundation is bringing the Manhattan Piano trio to you. El Paseo will be presenting MPT on November 15, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at the South Padre Island Convention Center. The evening will begin at 6:00 p.m., with a cocktail hour (hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar) in the corridor gallery. Tickets for the event are priced at $30 per person, $25 for El Paseo Arts Foundation Members. Only 200 tickets are available.

Hailed by critics as a "Grand departure from the usual", MPT is currently one of the most prominent, versatile, exciting and busiest emerging chamber music groups in the country. It is also the Grand Prize Winner of the 2007 Yellow Springs Chamber Music Competition, 2006 Plowman Competition and Runner Up at the 2006 Chesapeake International Competition. It is also receipient of the 2007 ABC Classic FM Listener’s choice award in Australia. The Trio comprises Milana Strezeva (piano), Dmitry Lukin (violin) and Dmitry Kouzov (cello). The "Dmitrys" are from St. Petersburg (Russia) and met Milana, a Moldavian born American, literally "on the front steps" of The Juilliard School during the summer of 2004.

Just the past three seasons has seen MPT give over a 200 concerts spanning 25 at many prestigious venues. They were also one of the first chamber music groups to perform in New Orleans, post Hurricane Katrina.

"Not many people follow chamber music. It’s the obligation of classical musicians to appeal to such folks but at the same time keep true classical music lovers in mind" says Reggie Bahl, the NYC based classical music manager. "MPT strives to evoke a range of pure human emotions in the listener through creative and interactive programming, " I know that listeners in and around the Laguna Madre Area would not only experience the joy and passion in their playing, but also feel the harmony in their own lives. This is also the inspiration behind the formation of this group."

The program is billed as "Music of the Masters" showcasing captivating music of different styles and musical periods. For more information about the concert please contact JoAnn Evans at 772-9097. Tickets will go on sale October 1, 2007 and will be available for purchase at Passions in Port Isabel, the South Padre Island Visitors Center and other area locations.
